Favorite piece of work by Gruau

This piece of work is my favorite piece by gruau, i love the way the yellow stands out against the black and also i also love the way he makes the model look really powerful,yet feminine. The clinched waist is really emphosised which makes it look really elegant.

-Rene Gruau developed his distinctive “New Look” in the 1940’s which greatly impacted,theatre,art, and commercial design.
-Gruau’s best work can be seen in the dramatic visual statements he rendered for Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Givenchy.
-He also produced stunningly beautiful advertisements for the LIDO, MOULIN ROUGE and BEMBERG.
-With his trademark use of his powerful minimal line, Gruau’s style combined seductive sophistication with classic beauty, grace and elegance.
-His first job was in 1946 for International Textiles. He designed their covers until 1984.
-In 1947 did drawings for the Miss Dior advertisment and most famously the Bar dress.
-Gruau moved to the USA in 1948 to work for Harpers Bazzar and Vogue before becoming the exclusive artist for Flair.
-Gruau has worked for some of the greatest names in Haute Couture for example BALMAIN, FATH, BALENCIAGA, GIVENCHY, ROCHAS. Although he continued to produce fashion illustrations for Elle, Vogue, France, Madame Figaro and L'OFFICIEL DE LA COUTURE.
